Why join a club or society?

'UL Wolves' is the clubs & societies wing of UL Student Life. There are over 75 clubs and societies within UL Wolves, all of which boast a strong community of members and delegates. Clubs & societies are a huge part of the university experience at UL. Joining a club or society allows you to be part of a community, make new friends, meet like-minded people, find a new sport or hobby, learn a new skill, have fun, and make the most of your college experience!

"Being a part of something makes me feel like I belong somewhere. It gives me an escape and allows me to be me. I get to be with people who share the same interest as me and make friends for life."  UL Wolves member, 2022

Hear from C&S members

“It’s really made my university experience. In first year I didn’t really take part but forced myself into it in in 2nd year and my C&S experience introduced me to some of my best friends and experience my home city in a completely new way. It has been one of the most important factors in my life.”

“Between work and college I rarely get home to see my family and when I joined my club they instantly became my second family. We do everything together from going out, to studying, to having 'family dinners' before big games. We as a team have a great sense of trust and friendship with each other. I spend more time with the girls from the team than I do with people in my course and it’s a great sense of security to know they will always have my back no matter what.”

Become a volunteer

UL Wolves, like all voluntary organisations, is only as good as its members. By volunteering to become a committee member at your club or society, you get so much more out of the experience. Time and time again, our alumni tell us that the skills they gained while volunteering at a club or society has helped them to gain employment, prepare for professional life and further their careers.

Becoming a committee members allows you to improve key skills such as time management, budgeting, fundraising, event management, people management, conflict resolution, public speaking, marketing and PR. It also allows you to give back to your adopted community!
