Your Student Council is composed of 56 student leaders who collaborate to represent the ideas, interests, and needs of all UL students.

Student Council Roles

Student Affairs Councillor:
 
 - Collaborate with the Student Affairs division to identify emerging trends and issues.
   - Collect feedback from support services, like Disabilities Services, to inform discussions and campaigns.
   - Act as a bridge between students and support services for better advocacy.

Sports Councillor:
   - Liaise with UL Sport and major sporting clubs to address sports-related concerns.
   - Promote sports offerings, facilities, and events on campus.
   - Champion student interests in sports and athletics.

Activities Councillor:
   - Work with the Student Engagement Coordinator to curate campus events.
   - Represent student interests in event planning and execution.
   - Collaborate with student societies to promote their activities.

First Year Councillor:
   - Engage with First Year Support Coordinator to address common themes and issues.
   - Advocate for the needs of first-year students in council discussions.
   - Propose solutions to enhance the first-year experience.

Student Services Councillor:
   - Collaborate with support services to gather feedback and data.
   - Contribute insights to shape policies and campaigns.
   - Act as a liaison between students and service providers.

Co-Op Councillor:
 
 - Work closely with the Co-Op Office to support students during placement.
   - Stay informed about policy changes affecting co-op experiences.
   - Advocate for students' co-op needs and improvements.

Campus Facilities Councillor:
   - Engage with relevant groups to address facility-related issues.
   - Advocate for better educational, social, and sports facilities on campus.
   - Drive discussions on improving campus amenities.

Equality & Diversity Councillor:
   - Promote adherence to the Equality and Diversity policy.
   - Collaborate with support areas to support diverse student groups.
   - Seek opportunities to enhance inclusivity on campus.

Disabilities Councillor:
   - Work closely with the disability service to understand student challenges.
   - Gather feedback and initiate discussions to address issues.
   - Advocate for improvements in support for students with disabilities.

Home International Councillor:
    - Engage with international student groups and UL Global.
    - Bring international student perspectives to council.
    - Explore opportunities for international student engagement.

Visiting International Councillor:
    - Collaborate with UL Global and International Society.
    - Support diverse student groups and highlight their concerns.
    - Encourage ideas and participation from visiting international students.

Mature Student Councillor:
 
  - Connect with the Mature Student Office to understand challenges.
    - Gather feedback and propose solutions.
    - Advocate for mature students' needs in various areas.

LGBTQI Councillor:
    - Liaise with LGBTQ+ support groups and societies.
    - Be the voice of LGBTQ+ students, addressing their concerns.
    - Propose new ideas for supporting LGBTQ+ students.

Entertainments Councillor:
    - Collaborate with the Student Engagement Coordinator on entertainment options.
    - Gather input from class reps to plan popular entertainment trends.
    - Enhance the entertainment experience on campus.

Volunteering Councillor:
 
  - Promote volunteering opportunities on campus.
    - Work with local charities to engage students in meaningful volunteer work.
    - Seek input from Council to expand volunteering initiatives.

Community Councillor:
    - Foster positive engagement between students and the local community.
    - Promote community initiatives like the MnM program.
    - Gather ideas from Student Council to enhance community engagement.

Student Parent Rep:
    - Represent student parents and highlight their unique challenges.
    - Collaborate with university offices and UL Creche.
    - Seek Council input to address issues and promote community engagement.

Sanctuary Rep:
    - Advocate for the needs of sanctuary students at UL.
    - Explore ways to make their experience positive and inclusive.
    - Collaborate with Student Council to address sanctuary student concerns.
