APPLY FOR THE STUDENT ASSISTANCE FUND BEFORE NOVEMBER 30TH!

The deadline for the Student Assistance Fund (SAF) is November 30th. Apply today before it's too late!

The application window for the Student Assistance Fund is closing on November 30th. If you want to apply, you need to do so quickly. Time is running out!

What's the Fund All About?

The Student Assistance Fund provides financial support to full- or part-time students in undergraduate or postgraduate courses who are experiencing financial difficulties while attending college.

The Student Assistance Fund is like a helping hand that gives you some cash if you're having difficulty covering everyday expenses or dealing with unexpected financial issues while you're in college. Whether it's family difficulties, accidents, or health problems, the Student Assistance Fund is here to help you.

Who's Behind It?

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) manages this fund on behalf of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science (DFHERIS). It's all part of a bigger initative to make sure everyone gets a fair shot at college.

Who Can Apply?

If you're a full-time or part-time student undertaking a course that's at least a year long and leads to an undergrad or postgrad degree, then you're good to go!

However, there are a few students who are not eligible to apply. This includes:

  • Students who link into a semester

  • Students on courses that do not lead to an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification, such as Foundation or Access courses

  • International students are not eligible for the Student Assistance Fund and are advised to contact the International Office if in need of financial support

  • Non-University of Limerick Erasmus students are not eligible for the Student Assistance Fund and are advised to contact their own institution if in need of financial support

How Does It Work?

Applying might take a bit of time due to UL’s thorough assessment process. Assessment outcomes may vary depending on your application. You’ll receive an update from workflow@ul.ie once it has been assessed. There are a few outcomes: Incomplete (missing info), Awaiting Confirmation (you're eligible, but need to confirm a few details), or Declined (ineligible). You may need to provide additional information throughout the process.

Note: emails from workflow@ul.ie might go into your spam/junk email inbox, please check these regularly.

What Does It Cover?

The fund is there to help with things like books, rent, heating, food, essential travel, childcare, medical costs, utility bills, and family difficulties. But it can't help with tuition fees or other college costs.

So, if you need a hand with your college expenses, give the Student Assistance Fund a shot!
