Hi, I’m Cillian, I’m from Ennis county Clare and I am your Student President.
What’s the craic everyone my name is Cillian O’Donohue and I am your Student President for 2021/22 academic year. I am 22 years old, I’m from County Clare and I’ve recently finished my final year of Business with German where I majored in Economics and Finance. Some of you may know me from my time behind the bar in The Stables, I’m sure I’ve served one or two of ye a pint in my time! But since then, I’ve gone onto new challenges and I am now your Student President following my election in March 2021!
My main responsibility as president is to sit on over 40 committees within the university and represent our student body and be a voice for students at all of these meetings. At these meetings, I bring up the issues facing students and I advocate for positive change within the university. In order to represent the students at these meeting’s, it’s really important that I’m informed of the issues facing students. Therefore, I will be keeping my ear to the ground around the campus, if you spot me bopping around be sure to introduce yourself and stop for a chat. If not, send me an email and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
We are so happy to have you all back on campus. You, the Student’s bring a buzz to the place like no other and that’s why I’m asking you to bring as much energy as you can to college this September. Your days in college have the potential to be the best days of your life so take every chance that comes your way and enjoy it. Unfortunately, not all students will get through college without encountering a difficulty here or there. That is where your student officers come in. We are here to support, advocate for and represent you as best as we can.
If I could give 1st year Cillian some advice it would be to put yourself out there and have fun. Take everything in your stride and embrace this new experience as best as you can. Leave the worrying to us and we will do everything that we can to make the transition to campus life as easy as possible for you. Definitely have a look at all the different Clubs & Societies we have to offer in UL Student Life, there’s going to be opportunities everywhere for fun this year. I’m sure you can find something for you. Try and meet as many new people as you can and I’m sure you will make some friends for life along the way!
I’m always up for a chat so just give me a shout or send me an email, can’t wait to have a bit of craic with ye this year.
Thanks a mill,
