Use Your Voice

What is Student Voice?

'Student Voice' is how we gather opinions, perspectives and beliefs from students to improve the overall university experience. The student voice is gathered through student representation, which are official roles that exist within the university that are voted for by the student body. These roles include:

  • Four full-time Student Officers i.e. student president, welfare officer, academic officer, and communities officer.
  • Class Reps who are elected by their classmates to speak on behalf of the clas and influence change in the university.
  • Student Council, which is made up of 56 elected students who discuss and vote on UL Student Life policy
  • The Student Executive which is a working group of 12 students who are elected by students to run campaigns, support student-led activities and represent students’ interests at every level of the university.

Every decision-making body in the university has a space for the student voice, so it is of the utmost importance that the right voice, is sitting on the right committee, at the right time!

We Want Your Ideas!

Student Voice isn't just a name, it's a living breathing thing! Student Voice is about representing students and giving them a say on matters that are important to you. This is where our ideas forum comes in.

On the Ideas Forum you can submit any ideas or changes you'd like to see at the university. If there's an idea you like, you can vote for it. The more votes an idea gets, the more likely it is to be picked up by your student representatives. There is no idea too big or too small. All suggestions are welcome. Use your voice!

Use Your Voice!

Throughout the year, we share dozens of polls on our Student Voice Polls page. These are monitored closely by student officer and issues are acted upon as a result of polls, so use your voice! Below is one of our live polls:

Become a Class Rep!

The position of 'Class Rep' is a vital role in the representation structure at the University of Limerick. Class reps are elected by their peers to represent the student body at departmental student/staff committee meetings. As a class representative, you are responsible for collecting and communicating your
fellow classmates’ views, opinions, concerns and needs to your school and other student representative groups.

By becoming a class rep, you get to develop your leadership, communication, teamwork, and public speaking skills. You also get a chance to build a network of like-minded people. On top of that, it looks great on your CV!

Get Involved

Did you know that as a UL student, you are automatically a member of UL Student Life, the representative body for over 16,500 UL students?

As a member of UL Student Life, every student has the opportunity to make a positive impact and leave a legacy during their time at UL. Becoming a student rep empowers you to be a #StudentLeader that can influence change right across the campus. This goes from access and facilities to academic delivery, supports, and services. That is why we want you to #UseYourVoice and get involved by either becoming a class representative or joining the student council.
